RED is at IBC 2026 (September 11–14, Amsterdam) with what the company calls its biggest broadcast show yet — and the centerpiece is a fully rigged boxing ring inside its booth. Under the marquee, the demos are a serious statement about where RED — now a Nikon subsidiary — wants to be in live production, and this week's show is where Nikon and RED are exhibiting together as one house. Here is the camera-by-camera breakdown of what's on the floor, with the official press image for each.
The V-RAPTOR XL [X] — big-shoulder live production, with a DIT cart attached
The camera in the photo above is the star of the high-end demo: a V-RAPTOR XL [X] on a dolly paired with anamorphic glass, full lens control, and live wireless feeds to a DIT cart for real-time camera adjustments, color work, and editorial — the big-production side of "cine-broadcast."
The V-RAPTOR [X] — the "premier heavyweights" of the Z Cinema lineup

The V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV global-shutter body is the star of RED's "Cine-Broadcast Live" showcase: real 4K 240p super-slow-motion replays, dynamic Steadicam ring-walk coverage, and classic shoulder-mounted broadcast capture — with all feeds routing to a fully equipped control desk of RCPs and switching, i.e. a true end-to-end broadcast workflow on the show floor.
The KOMODO-X Z Mount — the agile end of the lineup

The V-RAPTOR XE — the $14,995 large-format entry point

The immersive centerpiece: "Feel Every Frame" — V-RAPTOR cameras mounted in the truss above the boxing ring with dual fisheye spherical lenses, capturing 8K at 50fps and streaming over fiber in real time via RED Connect to Apple Vision Pro headsets: a fully live, 180-degree, cinema-quality immersive broadcast experience, the same technology family trusted at world-class venues. Also on the Nikon side of the joint booth: the Z-mount mirrorless line, the ZR with its just-announced firmware 2.00 road map, and the first look at the NIKKOR Z CINEMA T1.9 VV lenses in development.
Our take: the boxing ring is a stunt, but don't dismiss it as one. The same V-RAPTOR [X] that shoots studio features is being shown doing 4K 240p EVS-style super-slow-mo replay for live sport, over an IP pipeline, with broadcast switching in the loop. That's the message: RED is no longer "the cinema camera" that occasionally does broadcast — under Nikon's umbrella it's positioning itself as a broadcast vendor that happens to make the best image quality on the show floor. For the rest of us the more interesting story is the price architecture this enables: the $14,995 V-RAPTOR XE brings the large-format image to mid-size productions, and the $2,199 ZR with R3D NE keeps the same color science on a tabletop budget. If that pipeline — 8K live, 4K 240 replay, RED Connect over IP, DIT-ready — is what "Z Cinema" means in 2027, the distance between a one-person crew and a stadium production just got a lot shorter. (For context on how RED's 8K-over-IP live chain has looked at prior shows, here's the 2022 edition of the same technology family in action.)
